Senior Minor Home Repair Grant Program

Increase the safety of your home in your sunset years

Adults age 62 and older may be eligible for a grant of up to $5,600 for fall prevention and minor home repairs. Our certified construction project specialists will manage your rehabilitation work efficiently and with high quality materials.

Eligibility

This program is for adults age 62 and older who live in LA County. You must meet income eligibility requirements in order to qualify. You must also be a homeowner and live on the premises.

If our team determines that you are eligible, we will schedule a safety inspection with an NHS construction project specialist. We will also send a licensed occupational therapist who will complete a home assessment to determine your health and safety needs.

Examples of minor senior home repairs

Our team performs a wide range of repairs and modifications as part of this program. However, major rehab work, such as roof installation or major electrical rewiring, is not approved under this grant.

The type of work this grant does cover may include but is not limited to:

Bathroom

  • Replace toilet
  • Install grab bars in showers/bathtub

Flooring

  • Repair uneven flooring
  • Remove carpet

Walkways

  • Repair cracked/broken paving
  • Install temporary ramps

Interior

  • Repair/mend cracked plaster
  • Patch cracked drywall
  • Update hardware/doorknobs

Exterior

  • Add exterior lighting
  • Fix gutters/drain spouts
  • Add railings to pathways
  • Install keyless entry
  • Repair windows/broken windowpanes

Other

  • Adding security (video doorbell)
  • Install automatic doors
  • Replace mailbox
  • Repair stairs/stair treads
Light switch replacement
Handrail Installation
Ceiling repair (bathroom)
