The Legacy Project

Closing the racial wealth gap by creating paths to homeownership and empowering families to keep and build intergenerational wealth

The Legacy Project was initiated in 2010 as a path to helping local families and business owners to build legacy through anti-gentrification practices, homeownership and small business education, and financial resources such as low-cost estate planning.

Since then, NHS has continued to engage in community outreach, engagement, and activities to develop social capital and collective empowerment. Our goal is to build intergenerational wealth, stabilize neighborhoods, rejuvenate blighted properties, and increase or stabilize residential and commercial property values.

In partnership with the Association of Black Estate Planning Professionals, and local estate planning attorneys, we provide estate planning services for 10% of costs to income-eligible families. This service is free of charge for LA wildfire survivors.
