NHS of LA County and Congresswoman Barragan Announce NHS Center for Sustainable Communities in Wilmington Coming Soon

NHS Awarded $850,000 from Congresswoman Nannette Barragan

Neighborhood Housing Services of LA County (NHS) was awarded $850,000 through Congresswoman Nannette Barragan’s office to open its new community development space in the Wilmington area of Los Angeles.

The award announcement was held on Thursday, October 10th, at 11:00 am at Wilmington Town Square, 105 West “I” Street in Wilmington, Los Angeles.

It included an introduction from Congresswoman Barragan and remarks from local resident, Dora Palomino and Lori Gay, NHS President & CEO.

NHS operates its first Center for Sustainable Communities in Compton, which served as the model for the Wilmington project. With this funding, NHS will work to expand upon its 40 years of building stronger communities by hosting a variety of community service providers, facilitating financial, health, economic and workforce development programs and resources for local Wilmington, San Pedro and Harbor Gateway residents. The Center will provide equitable access to a host of community-based programs which will serve to enhance and support new and existing resources, along with extensive financial education and counseling for the local community. NHS hopes to have the new Center available to the community during the first quarter of 2025. Interested parties should contact NHS at (213)381-2862 or [email protected].
