NHS Helps Save A Home

Andrea Hill never thought she would be one of those families that needed help.  But after she was laid off, she took the first job she was offered which didn’t pay as well and struggled to make ends meet. Before long she couldn’t make her full mortgage and tax payments. She fell $5,000 behind and stood to lose the condo she had worked so long to own.

But Andrea searched for help and found it at an NHS foreclosure prevention clinic.  She needed a loan modification but learned she could not quality for a modification until she caught up with her past due payments.

She worked with her NHS homeowner counselor and Andrea found HOPE  -- in the form of a special grant created to aid low to moderate income families in Andrea’s exact predicament.  With the grant from the Genworth/NeighborWorks® Home Rescue Fund, Andrea was able to make her back payments and successfully negotiate a new reduced mortgage payment which was comfortable and affordable at her budget.

"My home is now peaceful. It is a place of rejuvenation," says Andrea.
